Bristol Old Vic Young Company is teaming up with Katie Storer to offer a 10-week course in Street Theatre. During this time, we will be exploring and researching the many different forms that encompass Street Theatre, from interactive walkabout characters to large scale puppetry.
Using the street as their stimulus, the group will focus on building skills in group movement/choreography, character creation, interacting with an audience, theatrical street games, devising building blocks and how to use theatre to explore political/environmental ideas. This is a course about investigating your ideas, thoughts and opinions and creatively shaping them to be theatrical vehicles of change on our streets.
Kate Storer - Young Company: Street Theatre Director
Katie is a performer, devisor, and facilitator specialising in physical family-orientated theatre for both indoor and outdoor audiences. Her time is split between facilitation/directing and performing, with all her work focused on creating and instigating a high level of play, whether in the rehearsal room or in front of an audience. She has worked with companies such as Bristol Old Vic, Travelling Light Theatre Company and the Creative Youth Network, amongst many more. Katie has worked with Bristol Old Vic’s Engagement department for over eight years now and is looking forward to bringing her knowledge of devising and touring street theatre shows to the exciting playground of the workshop space.
