Presented by INKBLOC Ensemble

Part of Bristol Old Vic's Studio Walkabout Season

Not all things that sink stay buried...

In 1997 a freak storm exposed a containership of LEGO® to the power of the tide, scattering the pieces across the ocean floor. For the last 20 years, these pieces have continued to haunt one small community, causing secrets to be uncovered and memories to resurface. Based on true events and devised by the company, LEGO® Beach explores the unlikely connections that only tiny pieces of plastic can build.

If 4.8 million pieces of LEGO® washed up on your shore, what would you build?

Every year the Made in Bristol project brings together a new group of 18-25 year olds who train to become theatre makers and practitioners through their associate relationship with Bristol Old Vic. Previous groups have included The Wardrobe Ensemble and Propolis Theatre. This year INKBLOC Ensemble present their debut production, LEGO® Beach.

Last year we began redevelopment works to transform our King Street entrance into a welcoming, vibrant space and build a brand new Studio theatre designed by award-winning architects Haworth Tompkins. During this time, it will be business as usual in the Theatre with our brilliant programme on offer, and we're taking our Studio programme on Walkabout around Bristol!

Made in Bristol Show continues our Studio Walkabout Season, inspired by the city-wide partnerships created during the Theatre's first phase of refurbishment in 2011 which saw us stage productions in other venues including Coram Boy with our friends at Colston Hall.

Please note the venue of this show is the 1532 Performing Arts Centre. We hope you will join us as we stretch our legs across the city and continue to enjoy our brilliant studio programme.
