Bristol Old Vic Update about Suspension of Performances | 10 Aug

Thank you.

We have been utterly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, love and generosity at this time, for our inspirational staff, trailblazing artists and beautiful building. You have told us how much you want us to continue working with, and for, the city and we are working hard behind the scenes to create a new version of Bristol Old Vic to get us through these extraordinary times. We belong to Bristol and we will continue to find ways of sharing stories and supporting the city in any way we can over the coming months. Keep an eye on our website and social media pages for updates.

From Thu 13 August we are reopening our café and bar in the foyer and on King Street. As soon as we are allowed to, we will also introduce small scale performances, inside the building and out, with limited, safely spaced audiences. The opening hours for the café and bar are:

Wednesday to Friday: 4pm – 11pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12noon – 11pm

However, in light of the ongoing developments through this global public health crisis, we are extending the suspension of all performances in the main auditorium until the end of 2020.

Wherever possible, visiting work will be rescheduled into the coming year.

During this time, we will be working closely with other theatres, the Arts Council, Equity and DCMS to ensure that the interests of the independent artists who provide the rocket fuel for all of our creative industries are protected.

And we will continue to champion the importance of creative opportunity in every part of society, particularly in challenging times such as these.

If you have bought a ticket for any show between now and the end of 2020, our Box Office staff will be in touch to discuss the rescheduled dates and opportunities for transferring the tickets to other shows.

In these difficult times, we are also inviting our customers to consider donating the value of purchased tickets to the theatre to ensure that we can come back fighting fit once the crisis is over.

We are enormously grateful for the understanding and support of our staff, our artists, and above all our audiences. We look forward to welcoming you back through the doors very soon.
