Wonder Boy (5 - 9 Mar)

Sonny is twelve. Living with a stammer, he is finding his way in a world ruled by vicious vowels, confusing consonants, and let’s not forget the biggest beast of them all – small talk. How will Sonny find a way to be heard? Celebrating the beauty in what makes us different, get ready for Ross Willis' wondrous Wonder Boy, brought to life on our stage by Olivier Award-winning director Sally Cookson (A Monster Calls) in a blaze of colour, music and imagination.

The Meaning of Zong (2 - 6 Apr)

Hamilton star Giles Terera brings his brand-new, visionary play The Meaning of Zong to Bristol Old Vic this spring.

Telling the true story of pioneering abolitionist Olaudah Equiano, it documents the brutal events on board the slave ship Zong whilst recognising that individual and collective action can drive unimaginable change for good.

Outlier (14 & 15 Sep)

The powerful poetics of Malaika Kegode and soaring music of Bristol band Jakabol combine in this autobiographical gig-theatre show directed by Jenny Davies.

Genre-defying and emotional, Outlier explores the impact of isolation, addiction and friendship on young people in the often-forgotten places.

Hamlet (13 - 18 Oct)

Hamlet's father is dead. His mother has remarried. He is alone with his thoughts. Then, he speaks.

Haunted by grief, and with his world spinning violently out of control, Hamlet has to make some decisions: forget or remember; live or die.

Rising star Billy Howle (The SerpentMotherFatherSonOn Chesil Beach) returns to Bristol Old Vic to play the title role.

The Nutcracker (24 - 29 Nov)

On a Christmas Eve unlike any other, Clara receives a magical gift that most certainly didn't come from Amazon...

Transported to a fantastical kingdom where toy lemurs come to life, nutcrackers can talk and just about anything feels possible, she soon discovers that it’s not just mice lurking beneath the floorboards.
