ARTISTS OF BRISTOL, THE SOUTH WEST & BEYOND | AN INVITATION
5 Jul 2024You may have noticed that there have been some changes to the way we approach new work at BOV.
Back in March we announced a plan to support the development of new British Writing at Bristol Old Vic and we felt it was time for a catch-up on what's next and to let you know what's been going on behind the scenes. Here's our Literary Manager Ben Atterbury with an invitation to Bristol artists..
Hello artists of Bristol, the South West and beyond.
Back in March we announced an exciting new direction for artist support here at Bristol Old Vic; a revitalised Literary Department inclusive of a whole range of writer-centred activity alongside a renewed commitment to Associates and our Artist Forum. You can read all about that here.
Since then, we've been really busy behind the scenes working out the finer details of this programme of activity so that we can share more with you about exactly what we're doing and how you might get involved. We want to be as transparent as we can possibly be with artists about what our offer is, who our offer is for and how and when you can engage with it. We're getting ready to share more details about applications for our new Five Year Commitment, our Early Career Writers Programme as well as refreshed guidance on how to reach out to us if you are interested in receiving a commission or grant to develop and make work with us.
We also realise that, a few months down the line from our March announcement, you might have more questions for us about how we're working moving forwards and how what you do and what you make fits into our reshaped offer.
So, with all that in mind, on July 23rd we want to invite any artist curious about our new direction to join us at Bristol Old Vic for our very first Artist Town Hall, hosted by our Artistic Director Nancy Medina and the wider Bristol Old Vic literary team. At this friendly and open event we want to chat to you in more depth about our programme and how it's going to work, share some key application dates with you & talk in more detail about our guidance for getting in touch, as well as making time for questions and conversation with all of you. The tea and coffee is on us and we'll probably throw in some delicious biscuits too.
You can book into our very first Artist Town Hall here.
If you can't make it in-person to join us on that date, don't worry, we'll be publishing all the further information shared at the event on our website on the same day. And, if you aren't already, why not sign up to our Artists Forum and get all the latest artist support news direct to your inbox when released alongside a whole raft of other free and helpful offers from us.
Hope to see you there,
Ben
