What can I enjoy in the show if I don’t understand the story?
The set is pretty amazing! It’s bold and colourful, and makes you feel immediately like you are at a party. The music is also a brilliant part of the show - with seven original songs. The actor also plays many characters and it’s great fun to watch her switch between them.
If I am d/Deaf of hard of hearing, what do I get from the show?
There is a lot of visual imagery. The set makes use of colourful balloon letters which are used to spell different words throughout the play to help explain the action. The costumes are really engaging, and help demonstrate the emotional state of the character, as does the evolving backdrop which helps set the scenes for the story. There will be a BSL interpreted show on October 7th.
Are there any loud noises, sudden noises, surprises or moments that might make me jump?
Yes, there are some loud noises and there is one surprise moment involving a puppet pigeon. If you don’t like loud noises, you could bring a pair of ear defenders. We also have a Relaxed Performance taking place on Wednesday 4th October, when the sound will be turned down from its usual volume.
Do I have to participate in the show? If yes, what do I have to do?
No, you do not have to participate in the show. The actor speaks directly to the audience, and interacts with people in the front row. She gives the front row a high five, and passes a plate of party food to one audience member. If you don’t want to participate in this, you could choose to sit in the back row or in the Gallery.
