From Concept to Stage | Meet Ti Green
30 Mar 2023Theatre shows wouldn't be the same without thought-out costumes helping to establish characters and reflect the context of a production, and we’ve been lucky to work with some supremely talented costume designers in our productions.
Meet Ti Green, a costume design extraordinaire who has helped bring many Bristol Old Vic productions to life with her elaborate designs, from Touching the Void in 2018, and Dr Semmelweis in 2022, to the most recent Waldo’s Circus of Magic & Terror in 2023.
Alongside designing for theatres across the UK, Ti is the founder of the clothing company Article Green, which uses natural textiles (grown using environmentally sustainable methods), non-toxic dyes, plastic free packaging, completely recyclable clothes, amongst so much more! Impressive for such a small team.
Take a look at some of Ti's incredible designs below:
Touching the Void
On speaking to The Guardian about the importance of sustainable fashion, Ti said:
"The industrialised global clothing industry plays a significant role in the 21st century climate crisis.
Clothing is seen as disposable, with textile production and garment manufacturing increasing exponentially. Fast fashion clothing is designed to have a short lifespan, fuelling consumer demand. Clothes are discarded and replaced when, in terms of sustainability, it would be preferable to design longevity into the garment from the outset, and to encourage and enable mending, recycling and biodegradability".
