Remembering Tim Pigott-Smith: a note from Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School

10 Apr 2017

Joint statement from Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School on the recent death of Tim Pigott-Smith OBE.

All at Bristol Old Vic and Bristol Old Vic Theatre School were deeply saddened to hear of the sudden death of Tim Pigott-Smith.  He was a truly great actor, whose skill and ambition seemed to deepen with the years. He was also a profoundly generous and passionate lover of Bristol Old Vic theatre and this city, where he studied, trained as an actor, and began his career, describing that time as “the dream come true.”

Over the last ten years, Tim renewed his relationship with Bristol Old Vic and was a persuasive advocate in the fundraising which has made possible the current refurbishment of the front of house areas of the theatre.

We will always be inspired by his skill and his passion and Bristol will never forget him.
