Alex Heane
Alex is a Bristol-based composer, musical director, sound designer and performer. A multi-instrumentalist across guitars, keyboards, strings and trumpet, he has a restless cross-genre curiosity that runs through everything he makes — from chamber folk to orchestral composition, from jazz influenced songwriting to electronic sound design.
Cinderella: A Fairytale marks his debut as composer at Bristol Old Vic, a venue he knows well as a performer.
Previous composition credits include Romeo & Juliet (Salisbury Playhouse), The Little Prince (Theatre Royal Bath), Up Down Big Man (Myrtle Theatre), The Odyssey (The Egg Theatre), Where Did the Snow Go? (Scarlet Oak Theatre), and For the Love of Stuff (Earthbound Theatre). As musician, MD and performer, his work includes Kneebone Cadillac (Wildworks Theatre), The Little Mermaid (Bristol Old Vic), The Little Matchgirl (Bristol Old Vic), Oliver Twist (Tobacco Factory Theatres), Wise Children (Emma Rice/Wise Children Theatre Company), and Jane Eyre (National Theatre).
When he's not in a rehearsal room, he can usually be found driving down the A30 to go surfing in his home town of Newquay, Cornwall.
