Birdspeed
Birdspeed is a British born Barbadian raised poet, spoken word artist, writer and dancer. Her artistry weaves social commentary with her West Indian cultural heritage, which has resulted into a dynamic performance style.
“Birdspeed” (Bajan slang, meaning to “move real fast”) characterizes her signature rapid body articulations in dance and imagination/ creativity in her fields. "When I found out my partner (Bob-Nosa) was originally from Benin Kingdom and practices "protest art" dealing with modern slavery, I felt very emotional. Being black British and identifying so strongly with my West Indian heritage, I have always been motivated to discover my ancestral voice. My ancestors may well have been traded off the coast of Nigeria, so this journey has been a spiritual Transatlantic journey.'
