Gareth Farr
Gareth Farr has worked as an actor at the RSC, Young Vic, West End, Royal Court, West Yorkshire Playhouse and Sheffield Theatres, as well as numerous television roles on programmes including Misfits, Skins and Vera. He has always been a writer and was part of the Royal Court’s new writing scheme and Super-Group. His first play Britannia Waves the Rules won a Judges Award at the 2011 Bruntwood Prize for Playwriting and went on to full production at The Royal Exchange Theatre in 2014. It was then taken on tour and played at the Edinburgh festival before being revived in 2015 for a further tour. It has also been produced in Sydney, Australia.
Gareth’s second play The Quiet House was produced by Birmingham Rep and Park Theatre London in 2016. His next play Shandyland was shortlisted for the 2022 George Devine Award, it was in rehearsal at Northern Stage and about to receive a full production when it was sadly cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It never made it to production but in 2023 his third play, Biscuits for Breakfast was produced by Hampstead Theatre. Gareth has taken part in the prestigious Old Vic 12 scheme and the BBC Studio Writers Academy. He has numerous TV scripts in development. A Child of Science, is Gareth’s fourth play.
