Heather Williams
Heather has long associations with theatres in her home city of Bristol. For Bristol Old Vic she has directed/performed in over 20 productions including Up the Feeder Down the Mouth, Suspension and Sleeping Beauty.
She co-founded Bristol Old Vic’s Young Company with Sally Cookson and was also Director of Education and Youth Theatre (1996 - 2004.)
For Tobacco Factory Theatres, recent productions include The Love I Feel Is Red, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Our Country’s Good.
In 2021 she performed in The Place at the Bridge based on the sonnets for Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory and in 2023 she performed in South Western with The Wardrobe Ensemble.
She co-founded and was Artistic Director of Myrtle Theatre (2004-2018), which gained a national reputation for ambitious, original theatre articulating diverse and unheard voices. Productions include Through the Wire; City of One, Hot Air, Jollity Farm, Up Down Boy and Up Down Man.
Heather’s early career ranged from community theatre to Number 1 tours and she performed in repertory seasons throughout the UK. For TV she was a presenter for BBC’s iconic children’s programmes Play School and Play Away and collaborated with film writer/director Anthony Minghella on a number of his projects, performing in his films Whale Music, A Little Like Drowning and Truly Madly Deeply.
