MATTHEW BLAKE | Performer & Creative Associate

Matthew Blake is an award-winning theatre maker, performer, director, and writer with a diverse portfolio spanning immersive theatre, experiential storytelling, and musical theatre. He has collaborated with leading companies such as Punchdrunk, Secret Cinema, and Shakespeare’s Globe, and has written and directed for the pop band Bastille and consulted for Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck.

As a performer, Matthew’s credits include Pariah Carey in Milky Peaks (also co-devisor and associate director) written by Seiriol Davies at Theatr Clwyd; Larry Fortune in The Drowned Man by Punchdrunk; and originating the role of Alexander Keith in How To Win Against History.

As a creative, Matthew’s credits include Secret Cinema presents Grease The Musical (Performance Director); Wishmas at the Old Bauble Factory (Performance Director); Secret Cinema presents Guardians of the Galaxy (Associate Director); and The Third Day: Autumn (HBO / Punchdrunk). Recently, he wrote and performance-directed the award-winning Ephesus Experience Museum in Turkey in collaboration with Marshmallow Laser Feast. Matthew is in a girl band called Heart & Soul and regularly hosts a cabaret night, One Legged Dog, as the wonderful but not-so-famous Jan McDonald, sister of the famous Jane McDonald. Outside of theatre, Matthew helps make children’s personalised books as a producer.
