Toby George

Toby is a theatre-maker and performer – born in Somerset with family roots across the West Country, grew up in Brighton, now living in London (long story), but found a forever home in Bristol in the form of Gurt Haunted.

He trained with Bristol Old Vic's Young Company and the Made In Bristol Scheme, where he co-founded Inkbloc Ensemble with collaborator Casey.

Toby has worked with Bristol companies including Palomar Theatre (Darlings, Edinburgh Fringe), and graduated from Wimbledon College of Arts in 2023 with a degree in Acting & Performance. His time there – and collaborations with groups like ThePappyShow – helped shape his voice as a maker of honest, generous, character-driven work.

In 2024, his clown show The South of Somewhere Else sold out at Brighton Fringe – a playful, heartfelt ode to the oddballs of his hometown.

Gurt Haunted brings together everything Toby loves about theatre: good people, a bit of daftness, and a lot of heart.
