Toyin Omari-Kinch
Over early 2022, Toyin played a lead role in upcoming indie feature, An Enemy Within.
In 2021, Toyin played the role of Stumpie in Hampstead Theatre’s production of The Death of a Black Man. 46 years on from its world premiere, this rare revival of Alfred Fagon’s darkly compelling drama, directed by Dawn Walton, raises many of the same questions we face today surrounding identity, capitalism and sexual politics.
In 2019, performed in not one, not two, but three plays for Paines Plough, touring the nation and also taking the plays to the Edinburgh Fringe. Flexing his range, Toyin jumped from the stoic, gentle father in the poignant adoption drama On the Other Hand, We’re Happy to the demanding feat of multi-roling in Daughterhood, to finally take on the exuberant, larger than life role of Dexter in Dexter and Winter’s Detective Agency.
Toyin played the role of Eric the Archer in the RSC and National Theatre of Scotland’s US tour of Dunsinane. Adapted by David Greig, the show took on the intellectually sumptuous task of providing a sequel to Macbeth, resulting in gritty and quirky brilliance. Directed by Roxana Silbert, they toured North Carolina, Washington, Chicago and Los Angeles.
Further to this, he also featured as the lead role of Malachi in Rachel De-lahay's play Circles. Set on the top of a bus, this ode to Birmingham provided an astute look into the troubled lives of its inhabitants. The show had runs at the Birmingham Rep and the Tricycle Theatre and also had a tour of the West Midlands.
Alongside his stage work, Toyin has featured in several episodes of Doctors on BBC1.
