Old Europe and New Afraka converge at Bristol Old Vic
Join artist and history enthusiast, Cleo Lake from Active Archives, for an exclusive screening of a presentation by Dr Marie Charles that uncovers the ancient Black rulers of Europe, the truth about our ‘European’ surnames and the ongoing attempts of whitewashing and erasing our history.
Prepare to be stunned! Dr Marie Charles is turning knowledge upside down in the quest to reassert a corrected history and therefore sense of identity and belonging in Europe for people of African descent and others interested in truth.
Following the screening Cleo will lead a creative session to assist with processing the information and strategies to embody and preserve the knowledge
This event is part of DIASPORA! - a new arts festival for Bristol and the South West, presented by the Diverse Artists Network (DAN). Taking place this year for the very first time, 3-6 May 2024, this four-day, multi-venue event will platform and celebrate the wide variety of talent reflected in the region’s underrepresented cultural communities.
