Join Bonny Chung for a series of FREE dance classes in Coopers’ Hall!
Bonny has been dancing swing for over 10 years and has taught regularly at Bristol’s monthly swing night Ain’t Misbehavin’ at The Southbank, Fanny’s Meadow Festival in Somerset (2021–2024), as well as at weddings and hen parties. She competed in the group division at the Paris Jazz Roots Festival in Apr 2023, and at the International Lindy Hop Championships in Bulgaria in Nov 2024.
Bonny will be teaching a Solo Jazz and/or Solo Charleston class from 7–8pm. Then, from 8–9pm, jazz and swing music will be played, giving dancers the chance to ask questions, practice (solo or partnered!), and grab a drink from the bar.
What is Solo Jazz?
Solo Jazz is a form of self-expression and improvised movement to jazz music, typically danced without a partner, but often in a group setting. That means you can dance solo or with other people!
It’s rooted in traditional jazz steps influenced by tap, vernacular movement, and sequences from the 1920s to 1940s, with an emphasis on rhythm, syncopation, musicality, and your own unique personal style.
