Join Robert Furey, Associate Director on Cinderella: A Fairytale and recent JMK Award finalist, for a candid conversation about building a career as an assistant and associate director.
Drawing on his own experience, Robert will share practical insights into the role, navigating the industry, and making the most of early career opportunities, followed by an informal meet-up for early career directors.
Robert is a writer and director based between Bristol and Manchester. He completed his director training at LAMDA in 2024 and has since worked as an Assistant or Associate Director at the Royal Exchange Theatre, the Schwartzman Centre, and now Bristol Old Vic, joining the creative team for our upcoming Christmas production of Cinderella: A Fairytale.
As a director, he has staged work in Brixton House, the Orange Tree Theatre and Theatre503. He’s a member of both Headlong and Tiata Fahodzi’s 2026 artist development programmes, and was a finalist for the 2026 JMK Award.
