Young Ferment 2022
We are pleased to announce that Young Ferment is back for the first time since 2019!
Young Ferment is a collaboration between Bristol Old Vic Young Company and Bristol Old Vic’s artist development department, Ferment. It’s a programme that allows Young Company’s emerging writers, composers, directors and devisors to try out their ideas with creative support from a professional team.
Six young artists will develop their ideas from page to stage, with performances of the work in The Weston Studio. All these ideas will be staged Thursday 28 - Saturday 30 April 2022.
Puzzled – concept by Krish Bhakerd and Sam Scholar
Everything is changing in Townslough. High streets closing, endless new blocks of pricey flats, and men in suits making decisions from their penthouse suites. Puzzled is about a shop, and a man, on the brink.
Fresh – concept by Max Wescott and Akosua Edwards
Enter Oskar, a teenage boy wrestling with the struggles of school, family, love, and the lure of life on the road. But can you escape your destiny if someone else is calling the shots?
Late – concept by Alfie Morgan
A man is on a journey, away from himself and towards the unknown. Cut off. Gridless. Dead? From the edge of the forest, a nocturnal odyssey unspools into the distance.
Fairy-tales according to Hoyle – concept by Will Shepherd
According to Hoyle: in accord with the highest authority; with a strict set of rules. But there are so many distractions. Bills. Kids. Emails. Phone. You are a writer. Write something!
