Young Ferment
Young Ferment is a collaboration between Young SixSix, Young Company and Bristol Old Vic’s literary department.
It’s a programme that allows Young Company and Young SixSix’s emerging writers, composers, directors and devisors to develop their creative ideas with support from a professional team.
Mentored by Imogen Downes, Paige Stevens and selected Ferment artists, the Young Ferment team will develop four 20-minute pieces, performed by Young Company and Young SixSix performers aged Year 9 and above.
For Young Ferment 2024, our pieces will be:
The Big Fish Hide in the Depths | Creative team: Sebastian Stevens, Eleanor Jones and Kotryna Leita | Devised by The Company | Ferment Mentor – Stephanie Kempson
"Everyone else is too shallow. It restrains their growth. They swim around in shoals, mindless. We are bigger than them. Like the big fish that hide in the depths, we will drag them down to see the world as it really is..."
To Aline, the physical world feels void of depth and connection. But in an anonymous online group, she finds community, and purpose. But what kind of situation is she getting herself into and how far is she willing to go to earn the title of “friend”?
