Bristol Open Doors Day - Saturday 13th September 2008
9 Sep 2008
Thank you to everyone who turned out on Saturday! Here at the Old Vic we had over 1500 people through the doors, and raised about £2500 in donations - thank you again, and we hope you all enjoyed the demonstrations, talks and backstage tours! We'd also like to say an especially big thank you to every one at 'The Concrete House' for all their efforts - they received hundreds more visitors, and the refreshment stall run by the Bristol Old Vic Theatre Club raised over £250 for the appeal. It was great to see such a level of public support for the Theatre Royal redevelopment, and Bristol Old Vic company - we hope to see you all again soon ;) ------------------ Original Post ----------------------We're delighted to able to take part in this year's event. We’ll be open 10am - 4pm, and invite you all to come and admire the 18th Century grandeur of the Theatre Royal auditorium and Coopers Hall. You’ll also be able to watch some live performance work by members of our Young Company, see demonstrations of stage lighting and sound effects, and have a look backstage! Also, 'Concrete House' (4 The Ridgeway, Westbury-On-Trym) will be open for visitors, with proceeds from the refreshments stall being donated to our Redevelopment Appeal! The Conrete House is a 1930's Modernist gem, designed by architects 'Connell, Ward and Lucas'. Today it is a private residence, and still has many original features. Guided tours will be conducted throughout the day, and the 'Hawk and Owl Trust' will be bringing along two live owls for you to meet in the grounds! We hope you're able to make it to either (or both!) :)
