A Finger on the Political Pulse.
6 May 2010Our very own Simon Godwin’s Far Away is drawing ever nearer with previews starting on May 24th, and its themes are even more current. With a general election at the fore-front of our collective conscience – the question’s posed in Caryl Churchill’s play will not only add fuel to discussion, but also provoke reaction from a selection of the country’s leading speakers and artists after each evening show. Guests include Jon Snow, Jonathon Porritt, Greta Scacchi and Max Stafford-Clark.
What values do we truly hold most dear when the world we know is changing forever?
Bristol Old Vic is stamping a sense of playful temerity on Bristol’s flourishing theatre scene, and Far Away promises continue the trend with an entertaining and engaging combination of politics and theatre.
In addition, the centre-piece of Far Away involves a ‘fatal’ procession of almost a hundred local volunteers in preposterous headwear… hats off to them.
