Far Away Speakers

After each evening performance of Far Away, there will be a free audience with various invited speakers who will respond the relevant issues in the play. These events will provide an opportunity to quiz the speakers and the creative team in an open forum.The speakers and dates are as follows:Greta Scacchi, 27 May: Emmy Award winning actress, environmental campaigner and patron of Bristol Old Vic.Polly Higgins, 27 May: Barrister and international planetary activist who has lobbied the UN on Planetary Rights and the recognition of the crime of Ecocide.Jim Crace, 28 May: Whitbread Award winning novelist whose work includes The Pesthouse, Being Dead and All That Follows.Max Stafford-Clark, 31 May: Former Artistic Director at the Royal Court and Artistic Director of Out of Joint.Alistair Sawday, 1 June: Writer, publisher and eco-campaigner who was the recipient of the IPA Environmental Publisher of the Year Award 2008 and 2009.Jonathan Porritt, 2 June: Founder Director of the Sustainability NGO Forum for the future.Nina Raine, 3 June: Playwright and Theatre Director who trained at the Royal Court and assisted Stephen Daldry on the original production of Far Away.Jon Snow, 4 June: Journalist and renowned Channel 4 news presenter.Peter Madden, 4 June: Chief Executive of Sustainability organisation Forum For the Future.Simon Boxall, 5 June: Lecturer in Oceanography at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton.Tom Trevor, 5 June: Director of the Arnolfini, one of Europe's leading centres for the contemporary arts situated in the heart of Bristol.Simon Jones, 7 June: Head of Drama at the University of Bristol.Heather Ackroyd, 8 June: Artist working in the visual and performing arts who has participated in a number of Arctic expeditions investigating the effects of climate change.Ruth Little, 9 June: Former Literary Manager of the Royal Court Theatre and member of the 2008 Cape Farewell climate change expedition to the Arctic.To book tickets for this provocative and exciting play, written by the Caryl Churchill, follow this link: http://www.bristololdvic.org.uk/769.html
