So, the new brochure is out and it is shinier then ever. The message this season is 'Play'.First up we have the unstoppable Kneehigh, with The Red Shoes (14-25 Sep) - a typically dark family story told in their much loved style. Kneehigh are everybody's favourite theatre company and tickets for this show are already selling out so if you haven't already, book now!After the wonderful Uncle Vanya, last year, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory return with Moliere's The Misanthrope (30 Sep - 23 Oct) - director Andrew Hilton has a Midas touch and we're fully expecting another golden performance.Bristol Jam (26 Oct - 6 Nov) is back! The festival of improvised performance returns with another packed line-up, ready to wow and amaze off the cuff. Whether it's an entirely improvised musical, comedy or play you're looking for - we have it all. Tickets are nearly gone so now is the time to book!The beat-boxer Schlomo brings his amazing, energetic show Boxed (16 - 20 Nov) to Bristol Old Vic. The voice-box wizard teams up with the fantastic Vocal Orchestra for a night of tub-thumping theatrics.The big Christmas show this year is Swallows and Amazons (1 Dec - 15 Jan). Pull on your pirate hats and bring the kids to see this fantastic show directed by Tom Morris and with original music by the Devine Comedy's Neil Hannon. This is a must see for family's this Christmas. Tickets are on sale now!For the younger children this Christmas, the beautiful Travelling Light return to the Studio with Boing! (7 Dec - 9 Jan). For some great dance, music and general loveliness - don't miss it.Performance poet, Inua Ellams, comes to the Studio with his realist story Untitled (23 - 25 Sep). This is a lyrical tale of twins separated at infancy and now living different lives in Nigeria and England.Tim Crouch's The Authur (28 Sep - 2 Oct) promises to divide audiences by disturbing and delighting in equal measure, whilst White Caps (6 - 9 Oct) will be dancing its way into the Studio Theatre.For something a little different, Under Glass (9 - 13 Nov) puts it's performers in huge glass jars, blending imagery, choreography, music and poetry. Ivan and the Dogs (16 - 20 Nov) is a piece of new writing which has been developed through Bristol Old Vic's Writer's Room, whereas Jason and Medea (24 - 27 Nov) comes from the unrelentingly brilliant Bristol Old Vic Young Company.Bristol Old Vic is also holding its fundraising event Winter Revels (14 Nov), with some big names coming to our stage for an evening of words and song. Participants include Samantha Bond, Stephanie Cole, Allan Corduner, Pete Postlethwaite, Pamela Miles, Tim Piggot-Smith, Louise Plowright, Greta Scacchi, Simon Shepherd and John Telfer.So, a packed season.
