DanceSpace Bristol Resident Artist series now on sale though Bristol Old Vic ticket office
4 Jun 2012Next week DanceSpace Bristol launch its' first Resident Artist series. Along with the artists residencies each artist will deliver a high calibre dance workshop led. Each artist will be delivering a session according to their specialism’s and all workshops are aimed at intermediate to professional level dancers.
These workshops come at a low price thanks to support from Bristol City Council, Theatre Bristol and Bristol Ferment.
Series A - The day sessions (all 10am-5pm)
9th June
Neshima Dance Company - Choreographic Process With Batel Magen (Artistic Director) and Repertory from ‘Breathtaking’ With Julia Thorneycroft
Morning session: An energetic contemporary based technique class followed by a range of
creative tasks surrounding the ideas for the company's new piece; led by artistic director
Batel Magen.
Afternoon session: A release based technique class and then a chance to learn some
repertory from Julia Thorneycroft's new choreographic project 'BreathTaking'.
23rd of June
‘BreathTaking’ Choreographic Method with Julia Thorneycroft and ‘Piloting’ Improvisational Method with Lisa May Thomas
Morning session: Release based technique class and then a chance to explore some of the choreographic ideas and methods used in Julia Thorneycroft's new project 'BreathTaking'
Afternoon session: "PILOTING is a practice of guided movement, alternating roles of PILOT and PASSENGER" MP. This process will lead us into individual and group improvisation, both in and out of contact, looking at moving and being moved.

Neshima Dance Company Repertory With Batel Magen (Artistic Director) and Improvising into performance With Lisa May Thomas
Morning session: An energetic contemporary based technique class followed rep from the company's recent pieces, which incorporate the use of voice and physical theatre elements, led by NDC artistic director Batel Magen.
Afternoon session: An exploratory workshop focussing on improvisation scores and techniques leading into roles as both performer and witness.Series B – 2 hour intensives (All 11am-1pm)

‘Journeys - Alone and Together’: A choreographic workshop with Harriet Quinn
A choreographic exploration of individual and collaborative journeys, focusing on improvisation scores, with emphasis on the use of movement and text/voice combined.
Sunday 23rd Sept
‘Fidget’ - High energy repertory and class with Kin Fidget
Fidget is a high Energy / physical contemporary dance class. Combining technique and rep from ‘Kin Fidgets’ latest project the class will end with improvisation to scores and a chance to move in your own way.
Sunday 7th Oct.
'Into the Unknown' a freeing dive into improvisational process with Rebecca D'Andrea and Laura Dannequinn
An improvisation workshop where Rebecca and Laura share improvisation tools and strategies relating to their current research. We will work on freeing up movement to create new pathways in the bodymind, guiding participants towards a greater sense of freedom and autonomy within their practice.TO BOOK:
