Briefly describe for us what your show is about?
A family struggling to hold itself together. A young man and his friends looking for God. A girl growing up.

Is it similar to what you’ve done previously or are you trying something new?
We toured my first play Bound to the studio earlier in the year and it is similar to that show in so far as it retains a strong emphasis on classical storytelling and song, but differs in its scale and ambition.

Describe it for us in three words.
Epic historical drama.

How will it make people feel? / What do you want it to make people think about?
I have no idea, but hopefully people will enjoy it. I want it to be a really great story and easy for people to engage with. Also, it would be great if there were more audience members than performers, as there will be a lot of us.

What stage will it be at in its development when we see it in July?
Minus certain production elements that would be present in the final production, we’re aiming for as close to the finished product as we can get.

What elements in particular are you looking forward to testing out on Ferment audiences?
If the language/dialogue the characters use works.

What are your personal highlights of July’s Ferment Fortnight?
The Wardrobe Ensemble were kind enough to let me visit them whilst they were developing 33 and I had a nice ball game with them so seeing if they got any work done will be a highlight.
