An Interview with Lauren of Jolt Theatre, creator of Perfectly Faltered

21 Jan 2013

Briefly describe (for us) what your show is about?
The piece explores personality and the ability to adapt, switch and compose oneself in order to project a positive image or manipulate views. The show is set in the 1940s, a time of expectations. The piece exposes the thoughts and secrets of the characters and reveals whats hidden within.

Now describe it in 3 words.
Quirky,curious,intercut

Is it similar to what you’ve done previously or are you trying something new?
The idea has been developed from our previous performance.

How will it make people feel? / What will it make people think about?
Aspects of the performance will be very familiar and relatable for an audience. They may reflect on how vulnerable people are and also how similar. The stories should capture the audience as they are unpredictable. The audience should be surprised, engaged and experience a variety of emotions throughout the piece.

What stage will it be at in its development when we see it in January?
The piece will still be a work in progress and not be complete, the structure however will be present.

What elements in particular are you looking forward to testing it out on Ferment audiences?
We are excited to see what the audiences perception of the story is, if the characters connect for them in some way and if its as entertaining, accessible and fun as we intend it to be.

What are your personal highlights of the line-up for January’s Ferment Fortnight?
There seems to be a wide variety of shows at various stages of development. The work looks really interesting and I am particularly looking forward to seeing Firebird Theatre.
