Access Information for Waldo's Circus of Magic & Terror
13 Mar 2023Did you know, that all performances of Waldo's Circus of Magic & Terror are Audio Described, Signed, Captioned, and Chilled? We've put together this blog so you can find out more about what this exactly means - plus some handy materials to accompany your visit.
What is an Audio Described Performance?
Audio Described (AD) performances provide theatre experiences for partially sighted or visually impaired audiences. Audience members listen to a live narrator who details what is happening on stage, through a set of headphones. Free touch tours of the set and stage are offered before the show – when booking, please let us know if you would like to attend.
Feel free to bring your own headphones to the performance, or, we have headsets which can be collected from our Box Office prior to the show starting.
What is a Signed Performance?
A Signed performance features a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter who interprets the shows for D/deaf audiences. Here is our BSL Flyer for the show:
What is a Captioned performance?
Captioned (CAP) performances provide theatre experiences by converting spoken word into text that appears on a screen at the same time as words are sung or spoken on stage.
What is a Chilled performance?
A Chilled performance takes a more casual approach to noise and movement in the auditorium, but the performance itself is unchanged.
- Low lights are left on during the show.
- You will be warned if there are loud noises or flashing lights.
- You are free to get up, move about or go out and come back into the theatre during the show if you need to – if you can, please book an aisle seat if you need easy access.
