Next week (15 - 19 July) we're welcoming the award-winning Chalk Line theatre to The Weston Studio with their latest production The Chaos That Has Been and Will No Doubt Return.
Told with biting wit and lyrical intensity, this is a powerful exploration of class and identity, with a cracking house party that pulses round the corner.
The story is woven throughout with some of the best noughties bangers and, in honour of that, Chalk Line Theatre have put together a playlist inspired by the show, and some of the reasons behind the tracks they included.
"I'm Sexy and I Know It" by LMFAO.
This is the ANTHEM Voice and Lewis walk out to, to introduce themselves at the top of the show, because they 100% think they are sexy in their Raply polo's and Nike air max's.
"Naughty Girl" by Beyonce.
Is the intro music for the pengest girl at school - Lakesha. She owns the stage like a runway and dances her way through this track with the sickest moves.
"I've Got A Feeling" by Black Eyed Peas.
This is remade into a string piece for an emotional moment in the play where Voice and Lewis patrol the stage barking to release their anger at the world and the systems repressing them.
"Pon Di Cocky" by Aidonia.
This is a LOL moment at the party where Lakesha gives Voice a dutty whine to the maddest song you have ever heard in your life.
"Mambo No. 5" by Lou Bega.
THE PARTY CLASSIC. Everyone has busted a move or two to this badboi at a party and Voice shows us his.
