The Meaning of Change

We’d love your contribution to our citywide collection of moments of change, to mark the launch of our new play ‘The Meaning of Zong’ starring Hamilton award-winning actor Giles Terera!
Over the next two weeks, we’re approaching individuals, public figures, groups and organisations across Bristol to collect stories of change. We’re asking people to tell us about:
- A moment of change you have lived through. The change may be extraordinary or general, but special to you.
- An inspirational individual that you are aware of who has brought about change.
- Change you would like to see in your lifetime.
We
will be curating the submissions into an extraordinary story which documents
the change we have all witnessed or been a part of, whilst reminding us
to be the change that
is yet to come.
It will be projected onto the walls of our building each night
before The Meaning of Zong.
We’ll be holding a special launch event on 22 March,
with Giles Terera in conversation with friends, to share this video for the
first time. All participants will be invited.
To share your story you can:
- Record your own contribution using the camera on your phone
- Email your video to marcomms@bristololdvic.org.uk. Make sure you include your name, organisation (if applicable) and a contact email.*
- Share a video, message or picture via social media, and tagging us @BristolOldVic (Facebook & Twitter) or @BristolOldVic1766 (Instagram) in your story of change.
*Once you submit/ we collect your videos – we’ll be asking you to sign a release form so that we can use them in our story of change.
** We may not use all videos straight away, but any submissions will be added to our archives.
Tips:
- Film your video in landscape
- Film somewhere quiet, with minimal background noise
- Even if you make mistakes, film in one take – we can edit out any pauses or re-starts
- Keep the camera/ phone steady or prop it up
- Film in good lighting
- Make sure no one is in the video who isn’t willing to be in the video. We’ll need permission from everyone in shot to use your story
