Meet the people behind our Summer Events series

We’re right in the middle of our Summer Events series here at BOV. We had a chat with Ryan and Tink, the dynamic duo behind our events, to see how it’s going and get excited about what is coming up!
How do you find and choose acts?
Ryan: We go to a lot of events, and network as much as we can, recently we went to some dating events in London as research and that turned into our first dating event that we are hosting in a couple of weeks DATE MY MATE. I think the best way to get the feel for an event is to be a customer for it, be in the audience. That gives you a great perspective to keep in the forefront of your mind when planning for your own similar event.
Tink: Plus we get groups or people reaching out to us to enquire, so we're constantly building our rolodex!
What’s the wildest event you’ve programmed?
Tink: I'd say it's our new Dog Life Drawing Classes. It's not been too wild so far but it's a really fun concept. There's definitely room for it to get wild though, luckily we haven't had any doggy divas yet.
Ryan: For me it's New Years Eve. It’s such a massive event here and I created it from scratch as we used to close on NYE. So many different options available to guests on the night and it gets bigger every year. It's certainly the wildest event and the one I am most proud of.
If you were a guest at one of your events, what would make you return?
Ryan: Unique experiences for sure! Quality time is deffo a love language for me and when I can experience something unique with friends that I can’t or haven’t experience anywhere else – That’s what attracts me to an event and will keep me coming back.
Tink: It's the bolstering of local brands and acts that does it for me. We like to keep it local here and that makes me so proud. It's nice to know that you're drinking local and listening local when you come to one of our gigs or events. We're constantly trying to support those around us, it brings a very wholesome, family vibe to the building.
Tell us one fun thing about working with each other?
Ryan: I could give you a million but the first that springs to mind is Tink’s ability to make the even the mundane, fun. Fifty events in fifty days sounds exciting and fun on paper but the organisation and logistics behind it all takes months of work. We both love working the events themselves as that’s the fun part of the job, but the admin that goes into it can be a lot. However, Tink’s energy is so contagious she can turn those long office days into just as much fun as the events themselves. She has a great talent of bringing out the best in people.
Tink: Most of the time we don't even have to communicate! We can speak through facial expression and gibberish. We save our energy for the things that matter.
What would the perfect BOV summer event look like, if you could do anything?
Tink: I've been wanting to host an Industry Sporting event for King Street businesses with an after-party at BOV to follow. Everyone works so hard on the street, it would be nice for us all to have one date to look forward to annually.
Ryan: Since year one of our NYE Event I have wanted to do a summer version… A huge end of summer blowout!! It’s a lot tougher logistically in the summer to run An exact copy of our NYE event but I think this year's Old City Sounds Festival at the end of August will be our closest version yet to it.
Which event are you most looking forward to?
Ryan: Date My Mate. It's such a fun concept and an event style that I have never ran before which matched up with my desire to always do new things. We managed to get local legend Jayde Admas involved as host too which will be so fun! And who knows, maybe I'll be able to get myself a date out of it too.
Tink: Easy. Vincent Flatts Final Drive. They crushed their first gig here in Feb, first time I've seen my mum get up and dance in years! I can't wait to have them back! Who doesn't love a cowboy?!
