Adult Company Summer Term 2024
Adult Company Summer Term is now on sale!
Adult Company Sessions
Term starts: Thu 9 May
Half term (no sessions): Thu 30 May
Term ends: Thu 18 Jul
This term will be a thorough exploration of ways we can create theatre from real stories; from the words spoken by real people. We’ll explore different verbatim techniques, combining them with voice work, devising, movement, music and ensemble work to tell a story we want to share. As well as developing our own material we will look to the work of other companies and artists specialising in this area of work.
The sessions will be run by Jess Clough-MacRae. Jess is a performer, director, and theatre-maker from Bristol. She studied at the University of East Anglia, completed the Bristol Old Vic Made in Bristol Programme in 2015, and trained at the École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq. She is a founding member of award-winning Clownfish Theatre and has toured their show Attenborough and his Animals globally since 2018. Jess co-wrote and co-directed verbatim shows Spill: a Verbatim Show about Sex and R U Asking 4 It with Propolis Theatre.
Jess has worked with companies such as Travelling Light and Tiny and Tall productions as an actor, and at theatres such as the Bristol Old Vic and Shakespeare’s Globe as a director and movement director. Her independent work includes directing multi-award-winning productions MANBO and Fool’s Paradise, which are both currently on tour.
Jess has facilitated theatre workshops for adults and children for Bristol Old Vic, Shakespeare’s Globe and independently for schools and theatre companies across the UK and Australia. She is passionate about exploring new ideas and is excited to be teaching the Adult Company summer term.
