Adult Company Summer Term 2024
Adult Company Summer Term is now on sale!
Adult Company Sessions
Term starts: Thu 9 May
Half term (no sessions): Thu 30 May
Term ends: Thu 18 Jul
This term will be a thorough exploration of ways we can create theatre from real stories; from the words spoken by real people. We’ll explore different verbatim techniques, combining them with voice work, devising, movement, music and ensemble work to tell a story we want to share. As well as developing our own material we will look to the work of other companies and artists specialising in this area of work.
The sessions will be ran by Jess Clough-MacRae, a performer, director and theatre-maker from Bristol. She studied Drama at the University of East Anglia, and completed the Bristol Old Vic Made in Bristol Programme in 2015 and has since worked with Propolis Theatre and freelance as a director, performer and dramaturg on a number of productions in the south-west.
Jess returned to Bristol after two years of training at Ecole Jacques Lecoq. With her international theatre company Cut Mustard Theatre she created multilingual science fiction physical theatre show '2100', which she has performed at the Prague and Norway fringe festivals, winning the "Pick of the Fringe" award in Norway. She regularly uses puppetry, clowning, physical theatre and verbatim text to explore sensitive issues and tell new stories.
