Carnival Takeover
In celebration of the Bristol leg of Barber Shop Chronicles’ trailblazing national tour, St Paul’s Carnival are taking over Bristol Old Vic for an afternoon of music, food, performances and more…
Hotting up with just two months to go, St Paul’s Carnival will be kicking off the countdown to their main summer event in the Bristol Old Vic foyer from 12pm until late on Sat 4 May.
Sandwiched between the 2.30pm and 7.30pm performances of Inua Ellams’ critically acclaimed production, this explosion of arts and culture will feature DJ sets, drumming and song, with craft activities throughout the foyer, and an Afrikan-Caribbean menu served by Bristol's latest food hotspot, 1766 Bar & Kitchen.
Welcoming communities from all across the city, come and explore our spaces and experience the artistry of Carnival in this spirited celebration whilst the “life-affirming” (Independent) Barber Shop Chronicles sets up shop in our Theatre.
We’re excited to be working with Bristol Old Vic in the run up to this year’s celebration. Carnival is so much more than a one-day event with many other activities taking place across the city in the run up to the day itself.
This will be a fun-packed, high energy performance which reflects the culture and ethos of carnival so it’s definitely one to add to your social calendar!
