Mayfest 2022 Opening Party
Produced by MAYKWe’re thrilled to be able to share the lineup for the opening party which kicks off at 9pm in the Bristol Old Vic foyer on Friday and runs until late.
First up is a DJ set by the vacuum cleaner – before being told to stop getting wasted every weekend and focus on being an artist, the vacuum cleaner was a founder of seminal Bristol party and DJ collective PLU, whose parties have helped pioneer both exceptional musical taste and radical queer love. He will throw some afrobeat, italo and disco records in a bag on the way to Mayfest and mix them badly.
Hot off the opening of Birthmarked, Brook Tate will perform a live set as Debra the Zebra – think live techno-pop for animals of all stripes – ably assisted by his bandmates and with live AV illustrations.
The night will close out with a set from one of Bristol’s most in-demand DJs – DJ Adeevah. An alumnus of Bristol’s Mix Nights and a member of Bristol-London female and non-binary DJ collective Booty Bass, Adeevah’s rapid-fire mix of Ballroom, Vogue, UK Funky, and Baile Funk will take the party through ’til late.
The party begins immediately after the first performance of Brook Tate’s phenomenal Birthmarked and attendance is free - just turn up and enjoy a drink to celebrate the beginning of the festival.
