Young Company City is a project that offers free weekly drama sessions over a 12-week period, culminating in an opportunity for participants to perform on the Bristol Old Vic stage.
The programme works with schools and community groups across Bristol and aims to engage young people who have never visited Bristol Old Vic or previously taken part in theatre and drama activities. Delivered by our Engagement Practitioners, Young Company City works with a minimum of seven schools and community groups each year.
If you would like to find out more about becoming a partner school or community group, please contact the Engagement Team: engagement@bristololdvic.org.uk
2027 (Year Six)
In 2027, Young Company City will be inspired by Pericles, Prince of Lebanon, which will be at Bristol Old Vic in Spring 2027.
The sessions will look at how familiar texts & stories can be reshared to speak to young people of today. Each group will work together to devise a piece of theatre in response. The groups will perform their pieces to family and friends at Bristol Old Vic in May 2027.
2026 (Year Five)
2026's Young Company City will be inspired by Headlong’s reimagining of A Midsummer’s Night’s Dream.
The sessions will look at how familiar texts can be reshared to speak directing to the political, social, and environmental questions of today. Each group will work together to devise a piece of theatre in response. The groups will perform their pieces to family and friends at Bristol Old Vic on Sunday 10 May 2026.
