Ferment Fortnight begins today!

Hello! Welcome! Ahoy! Ferment Fortnight is back with 18 new works-in-progress over 11 days and 1 rooftop beer garden... Tonight Ferment Fortnight explodes into an already jam-packed building with a glorious selection of the West Country's finest for your joy and delight. Come along to see the newest works-in-progress and give your feedback on this ace spread of talented artists. And all for £4 per show! That's a bargain, right? And we haven't even mentioned that if you book for four shows you can get the fifth one free with our TAKE A PUNT offer. WEEK 1 Wed 17 Jul sees Shanty Theatre Company open the festival with THE STORY GIANT, followed by Action Hero's HOKE'S BLUFF at Circomedia. Thu 18 Jul is full of religious visions and divine madness from The Mechanical Animal Corporation in THE TEMPTATION OF ST ANTHONY, and another chance to see HOKE'S BLUFF before it heads off to be part of the Forest Fringe at Edinburgh. Fri 19 Jul features WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO SAY?, a piece by Isabelle Cressy and Hannah Kew which looks at the comedy of failure, while Trashdollys enter an eerie underworld in their new piece CHAPS IN STRIPES. Sat 20 Jul sees Ferment Fortnight head over to the Cube Microplex with DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN. WEEK 2 Wed 24 Jul is overspilling with new work, with FLIES by musician Kid Carpet, GLORIATOR by Susie Donkin and Pauline Morel, as well as Jasmine Lovey's new piece IT'S A BADGER TRAP. Plus a chance to take part in an reimagined version of hangman; L_VE HANGMAN! which repeats nightly until Friday. Thu 25 Jul offers up a new play by Nick Young set in South Africa, PETER AND THE WOLF (AND ME), plus JACK DEAN, ANNA FREEMAN and CHRISTOPHER KOWALEWSKY hit the stage again with a triptych of Poetry, Hip Hop and Spoken Word. Fri 26 Jul features Greg Wohead's HURTLING, Stand + Stare's THE EYE OF THE HARE which uses old methods of film editing to sketch out a family's history. While the brilliant Sally Jenkinson and Nuala Honan bring sell-out show FOLLY in to try out some new material. Plus there's a chance to take part in a late night workshop GAMESHOW. Sat 27 Jul offers up another chance to see Greg Wohead, as well as the British Council Showcase featured artist Hannah Ringham with GHOSTPHONE OR THERE WILL BE AN ACCIDENT. Finally, closing the festival is LORRAINE AND ALAN, a new piece by Bucket Club, which is a retelling of a Selkie Myth. You can read all about it and book here.
