FEAST CELEBRATION

3 Dec 2023

On 1 Dec, our current Made In Bristol company created a very special inter-generational event called FEAST

Made in Bristol (MIB) is a theatre making traineeship - now in it's 14th year - which offers up to 12 young people aged 18-25 the opportunity to gain training and experience as a small-scale working theatre company and work in collaboration with professional directors.

Each Autumn term, they work together on a project which has a community focus. Previous Autumn Term projects have been a cabaret show for under 3s called Baby Tales and A Gurt time was had by all, where MIB worked with a group of tenants from Brunel Care and created a performative game of bingo based on their stories of going out in Bristol.

This year’s project has been an intergenerational project, which culminated in a community feast at Bristol Old Vic. Led by Young Company Director Lisa Gregan, Visual Artist Edwina Bridgman, with advice and support from Sue Mayo an intergenerational specialist, Made in Bristol have delivered workshops with Brunel Care, St Paul’s Nursery and Hannah More Primary School.

The project has been centred around a series of workshops that explored food, comfort and togetherness, through the lens of celebration and winter.

On the 1 Dec, fifty people from the ages of 3 to 83 years came together to celebrate the beginning of winter. Led by Made in Bristol, the collective took part in song, games and crafts,  as well as the communal, joyful element of sharing food with others.
