We took a dive into the May Studio shows and asked five quick questions to some of the creatives involved....

Debra Michaels (plays Mrs in STARS)

Debra Michaels

Hi Debra! Describe STARS in 3 words

Uplifting, provocative, relevant.

Tell me one thing that audiences would find surprising about the show, the tour so far or those involved?

Its seamless amalgamation of animation, music, captions and its heart through the richness of the characters we encounter.

What’s your favourite time of day?

I love mornings when I’m in the Sunshine and Evenings when it’s cold outside.

Who is the person who makes sure you get to where you need to be?

Me.

What’s a cause most important to you?

Awareness and Raising Money for Bowel Cancer. Being a survivor I want people of all ages to be aware of the symptoms irrespective of age as it’s the 2nd highest cancer killer. And that even after surviving Stage 3 you can still achieve.

Frankie Thompson (CAttS)

Authentic, Exuberant, Evocative.

The amount of comedians that are in the cast! We laugh everyday! The banter is on point.

Morning. I’m an early bird!

Who is the person who makes sure you get to where you need to be?

Our WONDERFUL stage manager Alyssa! Shout out to Alyssa!

What’s a cause most important to you?

Human rights.

Jack Wakely (Producer - Faun)

Jack Wakely

Describe your show in 3 words

Hilarious, smart and important.

Tell me one thing that audiences would find surprising about the show, the tour so far or those involved?

There’s a piece of costume that has to be seen to be believed, but I can give you a hint that it involved our Designer spending hours and hours sticking thousands of tiny mirrors to something...

What’s your favourite time of day?

Evening, specifically in the summer, when the sun’s still out but there's nothing that needs doing.

Who is the person who makes sure you get to where you need to be?

Not a person, but I'd be fundamentally lost without my phone’s calendar - I basically consider it an externalised version of my brain and I’d miss every appointment I’ve got without it.

What’s a cause most important to you?

I'm a big supporter of the work that Gendered Intelligence do as a trans-led organisation looking to help educate people and organisations on how to be more trans-aware. Education is such an important tool in breaking down stigma and barriers.
