At Bristol Old Vic, we believe culture has a vital role to play in society 

Since 1766, Bristol Old Vic has welcomed audiences to share the experience of live theatre, making us the oldest continuously working theatre in the English-speaking language. We produce our own award-winning plays, stage touring productions, support emerging talent through writer development schemes and artist residencies, and showcase community projects, year-round. 

By blending this rich history with a forward-looking approach to storytelling and community engagement, our work has something for everyone. This means that we can provide artists and young people with the platform, tools, and support they need to amplify their voices in Bristol and beyond. 

As a registered charity, we are committed to making a positive impact through our work for the benefit of as many people as possible.  

Together, we can power more cultural activity, strengthen Bristol’s creative future and help more people experience the transformative power of theatre.  

We will make a theatre which is for our whole community. Not a passive place but one of activism. Not one voice but many. We will ask questions of ourselves and of Bristol. We invite you to come on in and help us make this building sing with possibility.

Our work on stage has a reputation for harnessing the rebellious spirit of the region, sharing ambitious stories that speak to our city, our region and the world today.We produce and co-produce up to 8 shows every year, creating art for a national stage, right here in Bristol. By supporting a production, you can help bring the next great story to life, reaching new audiences and sparking conversations.

Support our Engagement programme, home to one of the largest regional youth theatres in the country. For more than 30 years, Bristol Old Vic has been a space where young people can engage with the arts, develop new skills and find their voice.Today, our programmes reach individuals and communities throughout the city, helping to remove barriers that prevent access to the arts.

Back the next generation of theatre-makers by helping us create space, time and opportunity for artists to develop new ideas and build sustainable creative careers.We are committed to our home in Bristol, and across a variety of projects, we provide South West based artists, the opportunity to develop their work with professional support.
