Anti-Racism & Representation
We acknowledge that systemic and institutional racism exists within our society, and recognise our duty to actively combat it internally and externally within the communities and people that we work with.
We are committed to fostering brave, safe, welcoming and equitable spaces for all members of our community, regardless of race, ethnicity, or nationality. To achieve this authentically, we are building our learning and developing our practice, embedding our values and behaviours into what we do and how we do it.
We have taken time to reflect on and examine our past ways of working and have implemented immediate changes to start to improve representation: through the work we present on our stages, our creative teams and collaborators, the audiences we invite, and the work we are doing to diversify our staff team.
This activity continues, supporting our goals of being an organisation that truly does represent all of Bristol’s communities and where all of Bristol’s communities feel welcome and respected.
Bristol Old Vic belongs to everyone, and as we go through this process we have open ears and open minds, and encourage feedback and dialogue to support our understanding and our change.
