Noises Off: 250 Years of Sound Technology in the Theatre
Learn the tricks of the trade and become a theatre technician in our interactive corridor, and sneak a peek at our 18th-century sound equipment: the Thunder Run.
Navigate your way up to the rafters of our auditorium and discover the many secrets of sound design that have brought our productions to life for over 250 years.
Located in our Gallery corridor on Level 4, this previously-hidden space has been transformed into a reverberating hall of sound, designed by interactive-storyteller Joe Ravenhill's company, 2 Feet Below.
Through a series of interactive activities, discover techniques such as how to project your voice on-stage and how sound designers create mood during a performance. Through a window into our Theatre's loft space, you can even catch a glimpse of our 18th century Thunder Run - an ancient contraption that simulates the sound of thunder above the auditorium.
Noises Off: 250 Years of Sound Technology in the Theatre is available daily, except during show times. Please check the What’s On page for show timings.
