Beauty and The Beast
Watch in person –Beauty and the Beast: In the Theatre
Unfortunately, after a short run, Bristol is on its way back into Tier 3. While this is disappointing, if 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to be adaptable. Living Spit’s Beauty and the Beast will have it’s final live show of 2020 on 24 Dec, but you can still watch a digital version from the comfort of your sofa here.
If you have booked in-person tickets, Box Office will contact you over the coming days to arrange a refund or an exchange to the digital show.
Our building will be closed now until the new year, and we’ll send further details about our upcoming season when we know more.
Have a safe Christmas and see you in the Theatre soon!
The classic French tale of Beauty and The Beast tells of a bright and beautiful young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. She learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realise the kind heart and soul that lies within.
The enormously popular Living Spit stars Howard Coggins and Stu McLoughlin. Howard is beautiful. There’s no escaping that. But then so is Stu. In fact, Living Spit is widely known as the most physically attractive two-man musical comedy theatre company in the South-West. However, in this tale as old as time one of them will have to portray an ugly, foul-tempered beast. But which one will it be?
From the creators of the Offie award-nominated Six Wives of Henry VIII, the perennial Christmas favourite Living Spit’s Nativity and the “beguiling rib-tickler” (The Times) Living Spit’s Frankenstein The Musical comes a brand-new, monstrously-musical, Disney-defying version of this classic French tale about what it means to be truly beautiful in the 18th century.
A hilarious re-telling of a classic tale

FAQ
How will it work? find all the details on how your visit will work and all the measures we’ve put in place to keep you safe here.
When shall I arrive? Please arrive at least 40 minutes before the show starts. This is to allow us time to seat everyone in the auditorium safely. We will not be accepting latecomers.
What is the Empty Seat price? Under current COVID regulations we can only sell 35% of our seats—the rest must remain empty for social distancing. This makes putting on any show financially very challenging. To help us continue putting on these shows, if you can, choose this price option, paying for your seat and the empty one next to you. Thank you. Find out more about our pricing here.
What if the show sells out? With reduced capacity, many of our shows sell out fast. If the show sells out, email our Box Office to be added to the waiting list.
What if I can't travel due to COVID regulations? If you are travelling from an area that has been placed in a local lockdown, Tier 3 or Tier 4, please do not travel from that area to attend an event at Bristol Old Vic. If you have already bought tickets please contact our box office team on tickets@bristololdvic.org.uk to discuss your options.
