Work Experience

Bristol Old Vic will be delivering a Year 10 and a Year 12 Work Experience placement in 2027. Each work experience placement will have places for up to 20 school students. The group will gain a valuable insight into working in the theatre industry.

During the placement the group will:

• Gain an insight into the everyday running’s of a leading regional theatre
• Learn about the diverse range of jobs available in the theatre
• Take part in a variety of workshops led by different departments such as Box Office, Producing, Marketing and Engagement
• Meet a range of other young people interested in theatre
• Gain experience in Backstage roles

Year 10 Work Experience dates: Monday 28th June - Friday 2nd July 2027.

Year 12 Work Experience dates: TBC (more information coming soon).

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer any Work Experience placements outside of the Work Experience weeks.

Your school’s Work Experience week might not be the same week. It is up to you to find out whether your school can be flexible in letting you come at a different time before you apply.

Bristol Old Vic Year 10 Work Experience is from Monday 28th June - Friday 2nd July 2027.

How to apply for Year 10 Work Experience.

Please complete an application form or application video before the deadline. If successful we will invite you to an interview at Bristol Old Vic on Tuesday 8th December 2026. From there we will choose the participants for this years’ work experience programme.

Please note that we will only accept applications from young people in Year 10 and will prioritise applicants from Bristol Schools and Academies and those who would otherwise not have access to the arts.

Applications close on Friday 30th October, 5pm.

We will contact applicants approximately 3 weeks after applications close about whether they have been successful in progressing to interview, probably the w/c 23rd November. However please be aware we are a small team and often receive over 100 applications for work experience, so it may take us longer to read applications.
