Made in Bristol
Made In Bristol is a group of ten theatremakers aged 18-25 who become resident at Bristol Old Vic for two days a week, for one year.
Made in Bristol is designed to give young people an opportunity to train together, become workshop leaders, facilitators, as well as theatre makers. Allowing them to create work that can reach out across Bristol, engaging with other local arts organisations, as well as performing their own piece of work at the end of the course.
The programme is a pathway into the industry and offers a range of paid roles to graduates.
It has allowed me to foster my creativity in the environment of the working theatre.

The group get the opportunity to work with freelance directors and arts practitioners (previously Tom Morris, Melly Still, Sally Cookson, Mike Shepherd and Emma Rice) to participate in the wider Bristol arts scene through collaborations and touring work nationally.
Now in its fifteenth year, 2024-25’s Made in Bristol welcomes: Gabes Kelly, Tink Trim, Betsy May Wright, Jazz Summerhayes, Beck Watts, Wilden Egenti, Faye Benians, Sophie Harding and Tom Smith.
*Due to the nature of the Made in Bristol programme we ask that applicants have previously participated in a BOV/Engagement programme. If you would like further information please contact engagement@bristololdvic.org.uk
Applications for Made In Bristol 2026 will open in Autumn 2025.
To celebrate Bristol Old Vic’s 260th Birthday, we’re changing the Made in Bristol programme next year…
It will still be a training programme for 18-25 year old theatre makers, but it will look a little bit different!
We will be recruiting for Made in Bristol 16 in Autumn 2025 and the programme will run from January to October 2026.
More information to follow soon. Watch this space…
