Made in Bristol

Made In Bristol is a group of twelve young people aged 18-25 on some sort of gap year – be it having graduated from university, finished school or being in part time employment – who become resident at Bristol Old Vic for two days a week for one year.

Made in Bristol is designed to give young theatre-makers an opportunity to train together, to become workshop leaders, facilitators and theatre makers, creating work that can reach out across Bristol and the South West, engaging with other local arts organisations as well as performing their own piece of work at the end of the course.

The group get the opportunity to work with freelance directors and arts practitioners (previously Tom Morris, Melly Still, Sally Cookson, Mike Shepherd and Emma Rice) to participate in the wider Bristol arts scene through collaborations and touring work nationally.

Now in its fourteenth year, 2023-24’s Made in Bristol welcomes: Ella Wilks, Jack Merrit-Webster, Khadijah Sawyers, Jess Cox, Rhiannon Lewis, Evie-Rose Maddox, Kira McGuinness, Sam Scholar, Bella Finlayson, Lillian Waddington, Elliott Grant and Kalila Mowatt Lewis. 

This collective began training at Bristol Old Vic in Sep 2023, and their debut show will be performed in Jul 2024.

Applications for Made In Bristol 2024/25 will open in May 2024.

Each year, we select a cohort of up to 12 young people aged 18-25. In previous years, we have asked for applicants to have shown some commitment in BOV before applying. You can find out how to get involved with Bristol Old Vic's Engagement department here: Take Part | Bristol Old Vic 

Applications open for Made in Bristol in May and there will be an audition day in July for MIB 15.

MIB 15 will run from Sept 2024-Jul 2025; Thursdays and Fridays 10am-5pm and full time Monday to Friday 10am-5pm, after the May half term.
